Verizon Wireless 30 Hour Outage

Verizon Wireless has been experiencing outages in two New York State area codes since about 10am on Sunday June 21, 2009. When calling in to speak to customer service they simply say that they are aware of it and are working to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

We asked what kind of account credit they planned on issuing when service has now been out for over 30 hours, they said that there would be no credit issued. Instead she quoted the line from the terms of service that says there can be network outages.

Time Warner certainly gives credits when you have outages, especially if you have an outage that lasts a long time and doesn’t allow you to use the service that you are paying for.

Overall very frustrating that Verizon Wireless touts itself as “America’s Most Reliable” Network. You would think in a time when more and more competition is heating up in the industry, a company would try to do a better job of keeping its existing customers happy.
